IX-2TG-RMLNLU IMC

The 2023 edition of the 2TG-RMLNLU International Mediation Competition, held on 31st March in the culturally rich city of Lucknow, brought together law students from across India and abroad, blending legal rigour with the city’s vibrant heritage. Organised by the ADR Cell of RMLNLU and sponsored by the eminent 2 Temple Gardens (2TG), London, the competition reaffirmed its commitment to promoting mediation as a constructive and progressive method of conflict resolution.

This edition launched the “Go Green” initiative, emphasising sustainable practices by incorporating eco-friendly measures such as reusable water bottles, jute bags, and a primarily digital infrastructure. These efforts positioned the event as a model for sustainable legal education, encouraging participants to support and promote local, eco-friendly businesses within their professional paths.

The competition included rigorous mediation rounds that presented realistic and complex dispute scenarios. These scenarios required strategic thinking, cooperative engagement, and culturally sensitive communication. Each round featured two mediators and two negotiators selected from a diverse group of top institutions, allowing for testing their negotiation and collaborative dispute resolution skills. Workshops by experienced practitioners such as Andrew Miller KC and AJ Jawad enriched the event, equipping participants with practical tools to navigate the evolving mediation landscape.

The 2023 edition of the 2TG-RMLNLU International Mediation Competition served as a vital forum for dialogue and mutual understanding, reflecting the core values of mediation as a dynamic legal tool.
